Fire safety circuit rider trainer

Your mandate

As a fire safety circuit rider trainer, you will be responsible for planning, organizing, and delivering training and mentorship to firefighters and officers of the 16 First Nations Fire Safety Services (FSS) in Quebec to help them obtain their certifications.

In collaboration with the fire safety team, you will also provide support to firefighters, Fire Chiefs, and administrators of Quebec’s First Nations regarding training and fire intervention equipment maintenance.

 

Main responsibilities

  • Deliver practical training sessions for Firefighter 1, Hazardous Materials, Pumper Apparatus, Aerial Vehicle, and Non-Urban Officer courses.
  • Develop training schedules, skills enhancement programs, and firefighter competency maintenance plans.
  • Guide and enhance the skills of local training instructors so they can carry out the required practical exercises within the program.
  • Assist Fire Chiefs in developing operational procedures and directives for fire services in accordance with applicable standards.
  • Ensure compliance with manufacturer requirements, applicable regulations, and best health and safety practices related to fire safety interventions.

Do you have what it takes?

  • Relevant experience in fire intervention and training.
  • Firefighter 1 diploma or a diploma of vocational studies (DVS) in Fire Safety Intervention.
  • Instructor 1 or Officer 1 certification from the ENPQ.
  • Accredited instructor certifications for Firefighter 1, Auto Rescue, and MDO.
  • Accreditation as an instructor for the Non-Urban Officer (NOU) course.
  • Availability to travel 18 to 24 weeks per year to First Nations communities across Quebec (maximum of five days per visit).
  • Strong oral and written communication skills in both French and English (training will be provided in both languages).
  • A valid Class 5 driver's license.
  • Accredited instructor certification for Pumper Apparatus and Aerial Vehicle (an asset).
