Geomatic technician

FNQLSDI activities are mainly in French

Your day-to-day 

As part of the geomatics team, you’ll contribute to IDDPNQL projects that require mapping services, as well as support data management efforts for internal teams and First Nations communities. You’ll also assist the GIS analysts on your team with their various projects. 

In addition, you’ll use GIS technology to integrate, document, and archive data in compliance with current standards. 

 

Main responsibilities 

  • Design and develop custom maps tailored to internal and external needs 

  • Collaborate with members of the Geomatics team to improve tools such as interactive thematic maps, survey templates, and related resources 

  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of the ArcGIS Enterprise platform in collaboration with the team 

  • Assist in drafting user guides, technical procedures, best practice documents, and training materials 

  • Provide technical support to members of First Nations communities 

  • Monitor technological trends to support the continuous improvement of internal tools and workflows 

Do you have what it takes? 

  • College degree in geomatics technology or a related field, and/or any relevant experience 

  • Proficiency with the ESRI ecosystem and ArcGIS Online applications (Field Maps, Survey123, Experience Builder) 

  • Great spoken and written communication skills in French  

  • Good spoken and written communication skills in English 

  • Willingness to travel occasionally to communities across Québec and Labrador 

  • Experience working with First Nations or an Indigenous organization (major asset) 

  • Experience in delivering training or leading workshops (asset)
