First Nations Regional Waste Management Committee in Quebec
The Regional Waste Management Committee was created in 2018 with the support of the AFNQL. It is composed of one or two members from each First Nation and meets three times a year. These meetings are intended to provide a forum for deliberation and action aimed at improving waste management (WM) practices and transferring WM knowledge. The committee also supports the implementation of new initiatives and helps to ensure that First Nations issues are heard by government authorities.
For 2023–2024, the committee is working on a data collection tool and the modernization of Quebec’s deposit and selective collection systems.
Meeting minutes are available to First Nations on request.
