FNQLSDI announces the appointment of its first board of directors

The First Nations of Quebec and Labrador Sustainable Development Institute (FNQLSDI) is proud to announce the appointment of the members of its very first board of directors, elected during its inaugural annual general meeting held on June 10, 2025, at the Hilton in Quebec City. 

This milestone marks an important step in the evolution of the FNQLSDI and demonstrates the commitment of First Nations in Quebec and Labrador to sustainable development and self-determination. This strengthened governance will enable us to pursue our mission with even greater impact and efficiency.

The new directors

We wish to congratulate those who were elected and who form our new Board of Directors. Welcome to our six directors who have agreed to play this crucial role in FNQLSDI ‘s governance (from left to right): 

  • François Rompré – Pekuakamiulnuatsh First Nations 
  • Benoit Croteau – Abitibiwinni First Nation Council (Vice-President) 
  • Laurence Maher – PNWW – Wolastoqiyik Wahsipekuk First Nation (Secretary) 
  • Marie Christine Roussel Gray – Listuguj Mi’gmaq Government
  • André Michel – ITUM – Innu Takuaikan Uashat mak Mani-utenam 
  • Miguel Coocoo – Atikamekw Wemotaci Council (President) 

Our directors bring a wealth of experience and a shared vision for sustainable development that respects our traditional values while meeting the challenges of our communities. 

The board of directors will be completed by three members of the political committee, who will be appointed by the Chiefs-in-assembly at an upcoming assembly.  

We would like to warmly thank all those who submitted their candidacy to sit on the Board of Directors. Your willingness to dedicate time and expertise to our organization is very meaningful to us and to all First Nations served by the FNQLSDI.
