A regional strategy to promote First Nations involvement in conservation

In 2022, we delivered the Indigenous Engagement Regional Strategy to the Canadian Wildlife Service. This document, which includes 32 recommendations and 169 courses of action, was drawn up following a survey of issues relating to the conservation of First Nations land and resources.

Thanks to the Indigenous Engagement Regional Strategy, the Canadian Wildlife Service will be able to better integrate the needs of First Nations into its biodiversity and natural environment conservation programs and initiatives.

Prioritize actions to meet needs

In 2023, we began the implementation phase of the Indigenous Engagement Regional Strategy. After presenting the document to the Canadian Wildlife Service, we began prioritizing the 169 courses of action for the coming year. This sorting will enable us to respond to the priorities of First Nations and provide them with support adapted to their needs.
