Newsletter – Group bargaining

Group negotiations between several First Nations and a developer

The purpose of this newsletter is to provide you with some food for thought on group negotiations, i.e. negotiations between several First Nations and a developer. When a mining, forestry, energy or other project affects several First Nations, they can join forces and negotiate as a group to gain a better understanding of the project’s impacts and benefits, and to obtain accommodations. In this document, you’ll discover the issues that need to be settled as a group before the start of the negotiation to make it possible.

Although this document touches on certain legal issues, its purpose is to suggest avenues for reflection on group bargaining, and it should in no way be regarded as legal advice. We accept no legal responsibility for the content of this document. It is advisable to consult a legal professional for all legal matters.
