Environmental DNA (eDNA) is an innovative technology that makes it possible to detect genetic molecules (DNA) invisible to the naked eye that come from species inhabiting a given environment. This technique makes it possible to monitor biodiversity and detect, quickly, noninvasively, and accurately, the presence of at-risk, invasive, harmful, or culturally significant species in a water, soil, or snow sample.
This training course, developed in partnership with Université du Québec en Abitibi-Témiscamingue (UQAT), Abitibiwinni First Nation, and Institut national de la recherche scientifique (INRS), will help you understand the concepts of eDNA, practice established protocols, and design your own experimental study to conduct follow-up research in your community.
