Second call for projects from the Indigenous Leadership Fund for Biodiversity Conservation

November 5 2025

Last June, we launched the Indigenous Leadership Fund for Biodiversity Conservation to support projects led by First Nations. This first call for projects generated significant interest and demonstrates the leading role of First Nations in land conservation.

We are therefore very excited to launch the second call for projects under the Indigenous Leadership Fund for Biodiversity Conservation.

You have until January 14, 2026 to submit your declaration of interest, a mandatory step before you can submit your project by February 5, 2026.

Selected projects will receive financial support as well as personalized guidance, as needed, throughout their implementation.

A conservation fund for First Nations

This call is open to First Nations wishing to carry out biodiversity conservation initiatives aligned with the targets of the provincial government’s 2030 Nature Plan.

Projects may address a variety of themes, including:

  • The promotion of First Nations knowledge, practices, and uses related to biodiversity conservation
  • The development of First Nations knowledge and capacity in biodiversity conservation
  • The creation of protected areas or other conservation initiatives under First Nations leadership

The Indigenous Leadership Fund for Biodiversity Conservation is funded by the Ministère de l’Environnement, de la Lutte contre les changements climatiques, de la Faune et des Parcs.
