Defending the rights of First Nations
As part of a mandate from the AFNQL, we work to implement the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (UNDRIP Act) as it relates to land, territories and resources.
We monitor the implementation of the UNDRIP Act and ensure that the voice of First Nations is heard and respected by the governments involved. We are here to inform, support and equip you and serve as a trusted source of information on the implementation of the Act.
If you are currently working to implement a self-determination initiative or would like to develop a new one, we can support your efforts and help you identify barriers and develop solutions. We maintain an inventory of self-determination initiatives for land, territories and resources (legislation, practices, customs, codes, etc.).
